Lir was established in Ireland in 1987 by Connie Doody and Senator Mary White in Connie’s kitchen. Few would have ever imagined that one day it would grow into a business with a multi-million annual turnover and contracts with many of the leading UK and Irish supermarkets Lir specialises in the manufacturing of luxury boxed assorted chocolates to be sold under the Lir and Baileys brand. Lir have invested extensively in our product, developing cutting edge packaging. This is reflected in the luxury seasonal chocolate collections on offer.

Our mission is to provide excellence through our products and service, to ensure this is achieved each chocolate is designed and handcrafted by a highly skilled and experienced chocolatier. Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician required for a role with competitive salary. Must be able to carry
out corrective and preventive maintenance within a food production environment.
Key duties & responsibilities
 Timely and effective troubleshooting and repair of equipment and electrical systems issues.
 Perform corrective and preventive maintenance for mechanical, hydraulic and electrical
control systems.
 Experience with conveyors, depositors, wrapping machines, weighing machines.
 Utilise data reports on equipment and systems to generate improvement initiatives.
 Support production at all times by ensuring minimum response times to equipment
breakdowns and achievement of equipment availability and OEE targets.
 Identify and report operational and maintenance problems to prevent production delays.
 Work with other staff in diagnosing causes of system, equipment or material failures.
 Liaise with the Operations team in the planning of maintenance work.
 Maximise equipment and plant availability through the root cause identification and
subsequent elimination of problems.
 Operation of Engineering Stores to ensure spares requirements are met.
 Ensure compliance to all aspects of the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental
procedures are maintained.
 A thorough knowledge of the theories and principles of engineering for both electrical and
mechanical maintenance across all disciplines following completion of an Electrical/
Mechanical apprenticeship or a two-three year college programme in engineering technology
(i.e. mechanical, electrical, etc.).
 Experience in a food manufacturing environment desirable.
 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 Willingness to work on own initiative, proactive and ambition to continuously improve
 Experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) an advantage.

Key duties & responsibilities

Production Department
 Weigh and measure product and materials
 Filling hoppers with raw product
 Monitoring machines
 Setting moulds for raw product and mixing ingredients.
 Emptying bins of extra products
 Hand decorate chocolate products
 Identify and remove any 2nd quality product
 Work with conveyors and specialized equipment
 Perform equipment cleaning duties
 Ensure housekeeping and hygiene standards in the department are maintained to the
highest level consistently.
Packing Department
 Work with conveyors and specialized equipment
 Assemble and pack stock boxes, gift boxes etc as required
 Weigh and measure product and materials
 Place product specific labels on boxes,
 Identify and remove any 2nd quality product
 Packing off production lines
 Track production totals
 Perform equipment cleaning duties
 Ensure housekeeping and hygiene standards in the department are maintained to the
highest level consistently.
General Duties
 To be present at your work station and ready to commence work at your shift start time
 Check with your Team Leader for your daily work schedule.
 Inform your Team Leader, Department Manager about any shortages, quality issues,
engineering or safety issues. This must be done as soon as issues arise.
 Regularly check your working area and ensure that the highest level house keeping
standards in the Department are consistently maintained.
 Work with your fellow Team Members in a thoughtful and respectful manner.
