Our Journey

Concrete is one of the most widely consumed materials on the planet; it’s ubiquitous in our daily lives. It’s used in the largest buildings in the world, yet it’s also used to make incredibly delicate and beautiful objects. This paradox makes concrete a truly remarkable yet often misunderstood material.

With decades of experience and technical knowledge already acquired from working within the concrete industry we decided to embark on a voyage of discovery, a mission to truly explore the boundaries of this remarkable material.

What we discovered opened up a new world of possibilities; it changed the way we think about concrete and in that moment Concrete Design Studios was born.

About GFRC

GFRC (glass fibre reinforced concrete) is a specialised form of reinforced concrete made by combining a mixture of fine sand, cement, polymer, water and alkali-resistant (AR) glass fibres. The glass fibres used in GFRC help give this unique compound its strength. The fibres act as the principle tensile load carrying member while the polymer and concrete matrix binds the fibres together acting as a load transfer medium between the fibres.

Available in virtually any colour and in a multitude of finishes, this innovative and environmentally friendly composite breeds a new realm of possibilities for the architectural and interior design community. GFRC has been specifically engineered to outperform traditional concrete, natural stone and other composite materials.
