Question 2. Tell us about your business?
Caffrey International provide specialist road transport and logistics services between Ireland, the UK and throughout Europe. We have been in business for 80 years and over those years Caffrey International has grown into a medium sized enterprise in a measured and sustained way through customer focus. We have worked hard to develop strong customer relationships by continually looking for efficiencies and by designing bespoke logistics solutions for its customers. The company has achieved this by investment in people, fleet and technology.
Question 3. What are the advantages of being located in Meath?
Our location in Ashbourne which is ideal as it is close to Dublin Port and also Dublin Airport. We also have an advantage in that we're also quite close to the main industrial areas on the Dublin outskirts so its perfect for short transit times.
Question 4. What types of transport do Caffrey International provide?
We offer a complete range of road transport services throughout Europe. Ambient Loads, Temperature Controlled Loads, Airfreight, Chilled Groupage, Refrigerated Transport, FMCG, Ambient Cargo, Hazardous(ADR). Question 6. Have you undergone any changes in the last year?
Year on year we continue to invest in our fleet of commercial vehicles so that we can continue to strengthen our offering, build confidence in our brand, reduced our carbon footprint and fuel consumption costs.
Question 7. Tell us about your recent investment to celebrate 80 years in business?
Caffrey International recently celebrated 80 years in business and to mark the occasion we became the first in Ireland to welcome the new Mercedes-Benz heavy-duty Actros truck to our fleet. It has lots of innovative features including ‘MirrorCam’ – a system that replaces conventional wing mirrors to deliver improved aerodynamics and an altogether safer and easier driving experience. This ‘revolutionary’ safety feature – which will inevitably trickle down into passenger cars – is designed to offer better protection and safety to cyclists and pedestrians. By eliminating almost all driver blind spots, it will greatly reduce the risk of an accident whilst assisting drivers in key everyday tasks such as when exiting motorways, lane changing and reversing.
Question 8. Do you have anything you would like us to promote on your behalf?
We provide warehousing, cross docking and storage for both ambient and temperature controlled goods as part of our supply chain offering. The facility at Ashbourne is ideally located, close to Dublin city, to Dublin Airport and to the M50 Dublin ring road, and is linked to the Motorway system with connections to the main commercial centres of Belfast, Cork, Limerick and Galway. The site is in a secure location with CCTV coverage. The ambient facility has more than 40,000 sq feet of storage. The chill facility is 15,000 sq feet, and operates at 2 degrees centigrade. We combine traditional values with technology and innovation to provide efficient, cost effective and sustainable logistics solutions for our clients and by doing so have supported Irish companies and have made a contribution to their success over the past 50 years
Question 10. Any advice for new businesses starting up? Sustainability is crucial to survival in the current economic climate. We have achieved sustainability by investment in people, fleet and technology. Technological advancements since 1969 have been enormous so having the foresight to invest in this and adapt to new methods of managing operations has proved effective over the years.
