In recent months our offices on the Ballybin road have undergone a complete overhaul. We have installed a state of the art working space to ensure our workforce is equipped with the necessary facilities and technology to continue offering our clients a premium service. This is now particularly important as we prepare to return to our offices on a phased basis following the Covid-19 pandemic. We are in a fortunate position to have been able to easily adapt our offices to ensure that we are compliant with these ongoing changes. We continue to invest in training and software in order to ensure a responsive and cost effective service for our clients. As a practice we are very focused on utilizing changing technologies to ensure a more efficient service for our clients including the provision of a client support portal.

Did you know that DBASS offers a free app? It is really easy to download either for an Apple or Android phone and comes with some really useful functions to assist your day to day accounting needs. Immediately invest in an accounts package which is appropriate to your business, ensure the person doing your accounts is provided with training specific to this software and has access to all available supports. After your first VAT return, get your bank, debtors & creditors ledger up to date and ask your accountant to review how the information has been inputted. There is no value in waiting 12 months to be told the information should have been inputted differently. Those working in the construction industry should ensure that they are familiar with the RCT tax and the rules attaching to same. Revenue has been known to impose heavy penalties in relation to lack of compliance in this area and so it would be advisable to ensure you do not get caught out by this.

Covid-19 has been challenging for DBASS just as it has been for many SME’s throughout Ireland. We made the early decision to provide our workforce with the resources to work from home in order to continue to provide our clients with a full service while protecting the health and well-being of our staff and clients. Thankfully we have a committed team who took this change in their stride and adapted quickly to our new way of working. DBASS invested in extra hardware for its team members and advised them on appropriate home work station set up to not only ensure uninterrupted service to our clients but also to ensure the highest health and safety standards for our workforce. In the early days of lockdown we launched Microsoft Teams and provided all staff members with appropriate training. In doing so we have ensured that our weekly staff meetings have continued and our culture of collaboration has been maintained despite our new remote working situation. Throughout the Covid-19 crisis our team has continued their professional development and has consistently worked to complete online training in a number of areas. We are currently preparing to return our team to our offices on a phased basis starting from June 29th next in line with government recommendations.
