Job Description:
O'Reilly Group is one of Ireland's leading manufacturers of precast
concrete products and construction materials. We are committed to investing in
the next generation of engineering talent and are offering an exciting
opportunity to join our maintenance team as a Mechanical Automation &
Maintenance Fitting Apprentice.
This apprenticeship combines practical on-the-job learning with
structured off-the-job training through the national apprenticeship programme,
leading to a Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft - Mechanical Automation
& Maintenance Fitting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation, assembly and commissioning of
mechanical and automated plant equipment.
- Learn to maintain, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing machinery
and production systems.
- Assist in diagnosing faults on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and
automated equipment.
- Support preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
activities.
- Learn to inspect machinery and identify wear, defects and potential
failures.
- Assist with dismantling, repairing and reassembling mechanical
components.
- Work with motors, pumps, drives, conveyors, gearboxes, valves,
cylinders and other industrial equipment.
- Develop skills in automation technologies including sensors,
actuators and control systems.
- Learn to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications
and maintenance documentation.
- Carry out precision measurement and alignment activities using
engineering measuring equipment.
- Assist with installation and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic
systems.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at improving
efficiency, reliability and productivity.
- Complete maintenance records and apprenticeship documentation
accurately.
- Follow all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
- Attend all apprenticeship training phases and successfully complete
practical and academic assessments.

SOLAS Entry
Requirements
To be eligible for
the Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting Apprenticeship, applicants
must meet the minimum entry requirements set by SOLAS and the apprenticeship
programme.
Candidates must have
one of the following:
- A minimum of Grade D (or equivalent) in five subjects in the Junior
Certificate/Junior Cycle, including Mathematics.

A minimum of Grade O6/H7 in five subjects in the
Leaving Certificate, including:
- Mathematics
- English or Irish
- A Science subject (preferred)
- A QQI Level 5 qualification in a relevant
discipline.
- An approved equivalent qualification.
- Mature candidates (over 16 years of age) with
relevant work experience and demonstrated aptitude may also be considered,
subject to SOLAS approval.
The successful
candidate must be willing to:
- Register as an apprentice with SOLAS.
- Attend all off-the-job training phases as
required throughout the apprenticeship programme.
- Complete all assessments, coursework and
practical evaluations associated with the apprenticeship.
- Commit to the approximately four-year
apprenticeship programme leading to a Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft -
Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting qualification.
