Live Work and Grow in Meath

County Meath Chambers Careers Expo to highlight 100s of job vacancies

THERE has never been a better time to work in Meath particularly for the tens of thousands of commuters who travel out of the County each day. With pressure to return to the office and rising fuel costs, now is the time to explore the opportunities. The County Meath Chambers Careers Expo which takes place on Wednesday 12 October (2-8pm) in the Ardboyne Hotel Navan will provide hundreds of commuters with the opportunity to end this daily grind.

A MEATH COUNTY COUNCIL survey has found that, almost half (48%) of the Meath commuters working outside the county, say they are hitting the roads before 7am with a further quarter leaving before 7.30am daily.

Michael Hughes, Chairperson of County Meath Chamber explained "Attending the County Meath Careers Expo on 12 October in the Ardboyne Hotel Navan could be a life changing experience. Industries at the Expo include Science & Engineering, IT, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Biopharma, Pharma, Polymers, Construction, Sales & Marketing, Accounting & Finance, Tourism & Hospitality, Retail, Logistics and Recruitment. The Expo is not just for commuters but is also for anyone seeking a change of career. Admission is free - view the jobs on offer and register your place on www.careersexpo.ie. The Careers Expo is a unique response to the needs of employers and employees and County Meath Chamber are delighted to spearhead this initiative, with support from Meath County Council and Intreo.”

“This is Meath's leading jobs and recruitment expo where over 40 key employers will be present and there will be 100’s of job opportunities on offer with onsite interviews and CV clinics offering advice and support to enable people stop the commute and Live, Work & Grow in County Meath. While the Careers Expo was originally designed to support our members in recruiting new staff it is clear from a recent commuter survey that the Meath Careers Expo is answering a pressing need from employees who want to work closer to home. It’s a win win for all and I’m proud that County Meath Chamber are spearheading the initiative. Providing quality employment close to home delivers sustainable employment with enhanced quality of life for employees and their families."

The Meath Commuter survey results to date show that over 85% of Meath residents said they were happy where they live but a staggering 90% are interested in working closer to home and more flexible working hours.
