Exciting new WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE LAUNCHED in Meath

Today marks the launch of Meath’s first “Women in Tech Network”. Launching as part of Meath’s Local Enterprise Week 2020, “Women in Tech Network” aims to engage, empower and connect women in tech at all levels.

Speaking at the launch Paula McCaul, CEO of County Meath Chamber said, “We are delighted to launch Meath’s first “Women in Tech Network”. This exciting new initiative is a collaboration between County Meath Chamber, Make it Meath and Meath LEO supported by Chamber members and key stakeholders in the local tech industry such as Facebook Ireland and Prepaid Financial Services, as well as Tayto Park and Eirgrid.”

Facebook, who opened their Clonee Data Centre in Meath in 2018, is the inaugural sponsor of the Network. Speaking at the launch, Facebook's Clonee Data Centre Site Manager, Mark Hunter said, “At Facebook, we’re committed to supporting women in tech for a more diverse and inclusive workforce. We believe that having allies and advocates who can champion your successes and support you through challenges is critical to personal and professional growth. That’s why we’re proud to sponsor Meath’s first “Women in Tech Network” so we can help provide resources and tools that help women feel empowered and supported by their colleagues in tech. We look forward to being part of the Meath “Women in Tech Network” and creating more opportunities for women to gather and share challenges they face, celebrate achievements, and discuss industry insights.”

At the launch, Paula McCaul, CEO of County Meath Chamber continued: “There is a wonderful cohort of female tech role models in Meath today; Valerie Moran of Prepaid Financial Services, June Byrne from Thesaurus Software, Kate Lynch of Timoney Technology, Claire McMahon from CalX Instrumentation, Sinead Byrne of Cló Design, and Jenny Hogan from Facebook, to name but a few. These women are responsible for leading some of the largest and most progressive companies in Meath while breaking down barriers for themselves and for the next generation of women in STEM who will follow in their footsteps. The ultimate goal of our Meath “Women in Tech Network” is to empower each and every woman who values the role that technology plays in her life. We encourage any woman who is invested in technology to join us in our efforts.”

The Meath “Women in Tech Network” will offer opportunities for participants to network and will meet regularly in 2020. Plans are already in place for an exciting half day ‘Tech Talk at Tayto’ scheduled for May 13th
