County Meath Chamber advises its members to ignore a spam phishing email offering a 'Distribution/Members list for County Meath Chamber 2025' for purchase.....
Dear Chamber Colleague
I am aware that you may have received emails offering you a ‘Distribution/Members list for County Meath Chamber 2025’. Please ignore the email.
I have contacted our web developers, our IT team and our data protection consultants and I have been assured that the County Meath Chamber website has not been breached or hacked in any way. Rather, it appears that an unaffiliated third party has taken the time to copy information from various business directories and associated websites and is offering this wildly inaccurate data back to you for a cost. The practice is known as web scraping. There is no apparent breach of data involved. Chambers of Commerce in different jurisdictions have reported the same issue with spam emails. We urge you not to engage.
If you would like to contact fellow members of County Meath Chamber I suggest you log in to your members account and view the member directory for the correct company contact details or call the Chamber on 046 9046060 and we can connect you directly.
County Meath Chamber is committed to promoting, connecting and supporting your businesses while taking steps to make this web scraping practice as onerous as possible for those behind the practice.
If you have any questions or concerns in relation to this, please do not hesitate to contact County Meath Chamber on 046 9046060.
Regards
Paula McCaul
