Virginia
International Logistics (VIL) was founded in 1982 and is headquartered in
Maghera Co. Cavan. In 2022, MML Growth Capital Partners Ireland invested in the
Company. In 2024, VIL completed the acquisition of Allmed.
Today VIL has
over 130 trucks and 360 trailers, 120,000 square feet of ambient warehousing
and employs over 270 people across 5 sites. We strive to provide a best in
class personal and professional service. We have a team of over 30 experienced
and qualified customs and logistics specialists who provide a 24/7 service to
over 1,000 customers in Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.
We provide full
and part-load ambient and temperature-controlled distribution, transport and
storage, worldwide deep-sea shipping and groupage via our own assets and an
extensive freight forwarding network. We partner with customers in the full
spectrum of industries such as Retail, E-Commerce, Food, Electronics,
Healthcare, Pharma and Manufacturing.
Our sustainable and
quality focused logistical solutions are tailored to each customer’s needs and backed
by our specialist licenses & permits in ISO, GDP, BCRS & Border Control
accreditations. Sustainability is a core value and we are recognised as a
leader in our sector. We are the first logistics company to complete zero
carbon roundtrip journey to mainland Europe and to install our own CNG
refuelling station. We have installed roof-top solar, harvest rainwater, have a
tree planting programme, model responsible waste management, provide electric
vehicles and charging points for staff and continue to invest in our CNG fleet.
Our 270 strong team, all dedicated to our ESG programme, are based at Maghera,
Co. Cavan, Kells, Co. Meath, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, Ballycoolin, Co. Dublin,
and Tamworth, UK.
The diversity of
our customer base and quality of our service offering means we need to have a
diverse set of qualified and experienced staff in areas such customs and
logistics planning (team of 30), HGV driving (team of 160), Warehousing (team of
20) and a Fleet maintenance team (team of 15). All teams are supported by
Customer service, Sales, HR, IT, Finance, ESG and Management (team of 20). Our fleet
is maintained to the highest standard at our Maghera site by a team of HGV
mechanics, fitters, welders and garage technicians.
We offer
apprenticeships and training programmes in all areas of our business in partnership
with the local ETB’s and higher education authorities.
