Meath Camogie - Launch for New County Camogie Pitch

Meath Camogie Initiative

“Your Plastic is our Pitch”

How will it work

  • Meath Camogie are seeking the support of clubs in their fundraiser to raise funds for a new pitch.
  • The fundraiser will revolve around the new Re Return Scheme that was recently launched in Ireland.
  • We are asking clubs/pubs to donate or collect re return cans and bottles to Meath Camogie.
  • The cans and bottles can be returned to any of the collection points that will be set up over the coming months or your location can act as a collection point.
  • It is envisaged that there will be at least one collection point central to each of the 20 camogie clubs in Meath, so a minimum of 20+ collection points throughout the County.
  • A Co Ordination will be appointed to organise everything within each club.

How can anyone help?

  • Don’t throw out your plastic.
  • Drop off your bottles and cans at your local club or collection point once a week.
  • Encourage your children and friends to get involved in the initiative.
  • The cans and bottles that qualify will have the Re Return logo on them and must be kept and returned in the original shape

Other Questions

Q. How will this impact camogie clubs that are single clubs with Mens GAA and Ladies teams

A. There will be no impact to the adult or juvenile section of any club – this initiative is a stand alone initiative and the sole purpose of the initiative is to end up with a dedicated pitch for Meath Camogie

Q. Has the site for the pitch been identified or bought yet

A. No consideration has been given to this so far. The only purpose of this initiative is to first raise the funds, and then when money is in the bank, the development committee will come back and discuss next steps around pitch location and purchase.

Q. How will this impact the integration plans for Camogie and Men’s and Ladies Football.

A. There will be no impact to the plans for integration, when this happens. Meath Camogie will support the integration and will be delighted to bring an additional pitch to the table when this occurs.

Q. Is the pitch only for Camogie teams.

A. The pitch will be primarily for Meath Camogie teams, but if not is use by Camogie, it can and will be made available to other teams.
