Ireland-Scotland Energy Mission - Chambers Ireland visit Edinburgh

Chambers Ireland spent two energising days in Edinburgh with colleagues from the Chamber Network, coming away with fresh ideas on how to turn innovation into real impact.

We were hosted by Edinburgh Innovations where Andrew Aveyard walked us through how the university is supporting spinouts, growing the skills base for a just transition, and leading the way in advancing work in offshore and renewables.

A highlight was our tour of the leading FloWave Ocean Energy Research Facility that simulates ocean conditions to test marine energy technologies and shows how academic research can feed directly into industry impact.

We also met with Consul General Jerry O’Donovan at the Consulate General of Ireland followed by discussions with Emma Reid and Joanne Davidson at Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce around their “Call to Action” — a strong, practical framework for accelerating inclusive growth across sectors.

Our visit ended at Forth Ports Limited, including a tour of the Port of Leith which is set to become Scotland’s largest renewables hub and aims to support offshore wind and green energy at scale.

Reflecting on the visit, we’re bringing back plenty of valuable insights. A big thank you to everyone involved for providing real examples of how we can better connect research, industry, and policy to achieve our climate goals.

County Meath Chamber was represented by its CEO Paula McCaul.
