Meath Businesswomen invited to join “International Women’s Day” celebrations as part of Local Enterprise Week.

Meath Women in Biz & Tech Network are delighted to announce International Women’s Day celebrations on Wednesday 8th March from 12-3pm at the Station House Hotel. This event is the first in a series of four events scheduled for 2023.

The Meath Women in Biz & Tech Network is a joint initiative between County Meath Chamber and the Meath Local Enterprise Office. The network is sponsored by Meta, and has been since its launch in 2020. Aoife Flynn, Head of Community Development at Meta’s Clonee Data Centre said; "We’re committed to supporting local communities to thrive and supporting initiatives like this one not only help create a more diverse and inclusive workforce but strengthen the small business community in Meath.”

The Meath Women in Business and Technology Network is open to all women in business and aims to bring them together to foster and encourage growth in enterprise, entrepreneurship, or self-employment and to share their experiences.

Paula McCaul, CEO of Meath County Chamber is very excited about this event. “Whether you own, run or are part of a business, I strongly encourage you to join the Meath Women in Biz & Tech Network…. it’s open to all and fully inclusive. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back again and are delighted to partner with The Station House Hotel Kilmessan for our 2023 events”.

The event on the 8th of March will celebrate ‘Women at Work’.  A three-course lunch will be served, with a focus on local produce. Guest Speakers will include Suzie O'Neill from AYU Cosmetics, Laura Hora Maher from The Irish Country Home, and Leah Cooney from Leah's Holistic Therapies.

Suzie O’Neill, originally from Fairyhouse, was working as a make-up and beauty tutor and realised the make-up brushes in kits given to students at the college were of extremely poor quality. After some research, Ayu was born in 2015, with the aim of empowering women with the tools and knowledge to bring out the best version of themselves.  Ayu now employs over twenty women, and its product range has expanded to include Eye Shadow Palettes, Concealers, Radiance Cream, Easy-to-use brow pencils, Blush and Bronzer palettes with many new and innovative products in the pipeline.

Laura Hora Maher is the owner of The Irish Country Home - creating luxury faux flower arrangements and home decor products for the domestic and corporate gifting market. Laura has worked with hoteliers, interior designers, and corporate gifting companies. She started her business in 2019 and it has grown from strength to strength since.

Leah Cooney is a therapist in Holistic, Beauty and Complementary Medicine with over 14 years’ experience in the industry, owning and running her own award winning salon in Wilkinstown, Co. Meath. Ever since her Nana told her that she had healing hands as a child, Holistic Therapies has always been her passion. All three businesswomen are sure to bring a great deal of knowledge, advice, and tips to the afternoon.

Lorna Cooney of Local Enterprise Office Meath says that the LEO is delighted to be supporting this network and would encourage all female entrepreneurs in the County to come along to the events which offer a great opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing within the small business community. It is also a platform for new and upcoming businesses to promote themselves and learn from those who are a little further along their entrepreneurship journey.
